LEAD BOLDLY: A Real Holiday

by Julie Jakopic  - December 12, 2025

Many of you know that I am an artist. A painter. I have had a ton of fun with the wisdom of the ads for the paint I use most often, Liquitex.

In the last few days, the subject lines have been like these:

  • The season starts bold
  • The holidays aren’t perfect
  • This holiday unfiltered
  • Gifts for every hot mess creator

A focus on playing and not worrying about perfection.

The winter holidays come with such high expectations – perfect gifts, conflict free family gatherings, with flawless gourmet meals worthy of Michelin stars.

It is a little ridiculous.

It’s fun to see a little reality check. Paintings don’t need to be perfect, they need to be painted. Holidays too. Maybe this year, we can all try to be a little more real. Gifts that convey our appreciation of others, gatherings with lots of love even if there are some arguments about football teams and politics, and food folks enjoy that enables the chef to participate in the fun.

In a time of such high conflict, what matters is appreciating one another.

I appreciate all of you and wish you holidays filled with fun and laugher, even if you order in pizza instead of a 6 course meal.

Take care of you and have fun.
