HELLO
I'm Julie Jakopic
Like you, I’ve been an overwhelmed, exhausted leader, anxious about retaining my team and constantly worried about meeting the needs of those I served.
I mean, how can I tell a homeless person sitting across from me at my desk that I have to go because it’s 5 pm? Or how can I leave at 5 pm when my team will still be working long into the night?
It just didn’t feel right.
I wasn’t able to turn it off and be present in my personal life. I’d often find myself running late, constantly bringing work home with me, and not knowing how to separate business and my personal life. I felt like I was failing everyone, and ultimately, it affected my relationships and left me exhausted, overwhelmed, and feeling inadequate.
I now know it doesn’t have to be that way.
Today, I am a leader who trusts my team, asks for help before things become a crisis, and sets clear expectations that empower my team to move forward with confidence. I am able to lead my team to achieve extraordinary results and make a significant impact that drives all of us. And I want that for you too.
FEATURED IN:
Crafting a 5-year strategic plan for a 60-year-old social enterprise that has morphed and developed into a multi-faceted business and service provider is a challenge. When you are a young CEO leading the team and advising a Board of very diverse opinions and personalities, it’s more than daunting. Julie and her team were invaluable in doing research and interviews to build out an environmental survey and competitive analysis, as well as leading strategic discussions at various levels of the company to help us craft a new mission statement, strategic pillars, and an ambitious and measurable strategy to achieve them. Our FY23-FY27 strategic plan has been used by other organizations as an example of excellence, and our implementation has been greatly facilitated by all of the foundational work done by iLead Strategies.

Workshops
Prepare your organization to thrive and lead with resilience. Our workshops are designed to equip you with the strategies, tools, and insights needed to navigate challenges, build strong teams, and foster sustainable growth.
Managing from the Middle: Opportunities and Challenges
Becoming an outstanding manager is a process. One that entails shifting focus from doing the work to assisting and developing the talents of others to do the work. Most managers in this role are also responsible for representing their team and the teams work with upper management. In this workshop, new leaders will have a chance to explore their management style and build their skills for managing both the team and leadership expectations.
Building Your Team: Recruit, Retain, and Motivate Talent
In this time, finding competent and committed staff is more difficult than ever, especially for the wages many non-profit organizations are able to provide. In this workshop we will explore effective recruitment, retention and management strategies for finding and keeping great teams.
Beating Burnout
The work we do in community action is about helping others who are in crisis, but it is important that we not end up in crisis ourselves. This workshop will provide strategies to address burnout for ourselves and as leader and help those we work with avoid it.
Once Upon a Time: Telling Our Story
Effective advocacy and community relationship building requires the capacity to identify and share stories of our work. In this interactive workshop participants will learn about models for effective story telling and learn to tell a good story that inspires others.
Resilience & Recovery: Preparing your Organization for Tomorrow
As leaders, we are charged not only with the work of today, but also the long term strength of our organizations. Building organizations that are strong, stable, and resilient is ever more important in the fluid and turbulent economic climate of today. In this powerful interactive workshop, you will consider key drivers of resilience and sustainability with a focus on resource development. Then, you will consider effective strategies for strengthening your organization.
Are You Ready For Trouble? Communicating in Crisis
Some crisis events are random surprises, but many are predictable - a child gets hurt, a funding stream ends, someone is fired. While the CSBG organizational standards include the need for a crisis communications plan, what might be in that plan varies widely. Often, the details are filled in during a crisis. In this workshop, we will talk about elements of a good crisis communications planning process and plan and spend some time building the framework for a plan for your agency.
The Persuasion Matrix: How to Inspire Action
Whether you are trying to persuade your team to work together, sell your vision or get your toddler to stop throwing cheerios, it's all about persuasion. The Persuasion Matrix is a framework for effectively asking for and getting what you want. The matrix has formed the basis for effectively engaging stakeholders, winning legislative policy changes and garnering community support. In this workshop you will learn concrete strategies and create a plan to successfully engage others in your cause.
Whole Brain Leadership: Putting Your Preferences to Work for You
Ever notice how some tasks come easily and time goes by in a flash and others seem to take forever though they aren’t particularly difficult? Ever have thought you clearly assigned only to have the result be something totally unexpected? Understanding our natural thinking preferences and those of others can help us better communicate with and motivate others. In this workshop, we’ll explore a model to identify our preferences, strengthen our weaknesses, and put our strengths in action.
