Mark Twain once said “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning”.
The idea is to do your toughest, most gnarly, task first thing in the day. Sometimes, that works. Other times you might need to clear the deck of small stuff first or have plans that you can’t or don’t want to change.
But here is the thing. If you are going to worry about the big froggy thing the whole time, do it first, or it will be like eating it twice – once for all the worrying, and then for the doing of it.
For me, invoices, and taxes, and paperwork are my frogs. I can spend three days avoiding a two hour task. But then I not only lose the two hours of work, but all the hours and days of worrying that add up to more energy.
That’s eating the frog twice. Blech. I am doing my best to stop.
How about you? What are your frogs? How do you manage to not eat them twice?
Have a great week,
Julie
