LEAD BOLDLY: How Dare You?

by Chandress  - May 2, 2026

Really, how dare you, or we, be joyful with all that is happening?

I was asked about this in a recent podcast. And my answer surprised even me.

What if the answer is it’s a requirement? What if instead of spending our days angry and depressed, we worked hard to find joy?

I did not used to give a rip about joy. I was too busy focused on all that was wrong in the world that I wanted to fix.

There is plenty to be angry about, but anger is draining. After the rant is over, I don’t know about you, but I need a nap and to hide under the covers.

And your misery not only helps no one, it makes the people around you miserable too.

What if instead, the first rebellion is to find some joy somewhere and use that to fuel your next action? While it certainly could be a big thing – a raise, an award, a new relationship, a great vacation, it can also be in the smallest of things. A hug, a flower blooming, a great song playing, a really yummy meal.

It is a great habit. One I had to work on. For the better part of a year, I tracked something every day that made me joyful. Ok, to be honest for a year I tried, and probably succeeded half the days, but that was a bit step forward.

What makes you joyful? How can you have more of it?

Best,

Julie
