The world is goofy these days. As leaders, we are called upon to lead our teams, to have their backs, and often to help them tackle all sorts of challenges presented by people we or they encounter who have different values than we do. It is what we have been training for and it is part of why we have the roles we do.
And it can be exhausting. Exhausting to always be looking at the world from the perspectives of others and responding accordingly while maintaining our authenticity.
We need to refuel and sometimes the best refueling is to find the people who just get us. Get what matters to us. Get who we are. Sometimes that’s family, sometimes it’s colleagues, sometimes it’s old friends or basketball teammates, or book group, or theater troupe, or any other place you get to just be you.
It’s the last gasp of summer around here. A little warmer and sunnier. My version of finding my people this week is an extra weekend at the pool with those crazy kiddos. If it gets chilly, there is always making slime 😊.
Where can you find yours?
