It’s been a very strange week. My sense of things is somewhat out of sync with reality. And not in a particularly fabulous magical way. Quite the reverse.
On Sunday I hung out in sweats on the couch with Netflix in the background. I would have told you I didn’t do anything all day. But by the end of the day, I realized I had done two loads of laundry, made a big pot of chili, and written four performance reviews. Not nothing.
Then there’s the fact that the things that are bugging me are taking up way too much space relative to things that should be fun. You’ve probably heard me say that our brains are Teflon for good stuff and Velcro for bad stuff.
My head has been in that space this week. And it ends today. Yes, thank you COVID, my trip may need to be postponed again and overnight visits with the grands may be on hold again.
But my TEDx talk is live. Here’s the link and after 17 good years, I got a new car.I’m healthy and safe and get to do good work with good people. I have lots for which to be both grateful and happy.
As we head into the holiday week and the close of 2021, a reminder that we tend to see what we’re looking for.
If you’re looking for trouble you will find it.
But if you can focus on the things that go right this week you might have a whole lot more fun.
My wish for you is that you close 2021 happy, healthy, and warm.
Happy Holidays!
Julie
