It’s been a week of altered plans and reprioritization. Of stripping down to the most essential.
We had an unexpected death in our family. Unlike other times, in this instance my job is not to lead, but to support. It is the best way to serve my family but it’s hard.
I’m not in charge and there is no schedule yet, so I can’t plan. Instead, I have had to stay flexible. To be available when needed but to proceed with the commitments I have already made. To be persistently making space and making new decisions about what has to be done, what I can do while waiting, and what I can drop altogether.
It’s a different perspective. I must trust the decisionmakers. I must be ok with mistakes, and really hone in on what matters in the moment.
It is a great lesson on being present and holding others in grace. And probably a mirror on what life looks like for those on my team at times.
Lots to think about.
Make it a great week,
Julie
What I’m learning this week: I have been struck by the idea of comebacks. The courage AND possibility. Whether it’s Simone Biles in the 2024 Olympics, or former Olympian Marion Jones moving forward.
