Last weekend I hosted the Women Who Lead retreat. We spent some time talking about words that trip us up.
One of the big ones was “Sorry.” I’m sorry – I’m late, I can’t do what you want when you want it or didn’t, I bumped in to you, I need your help, and so on.
Listen, there are times we make real mistakes, and we should apologize.
But all too often, we apologize for being ourselves, for taking up space, for asking for what we want. And it is time we stop.
That may take a bit of practice. And that may mean using an alternative for a bit. Try “Thank you.” Thank you for waiting, thank you for asking, thank you for listening, thank you.
Let me know how it goes.
Best,
Julie
