LEAD BOLDLY: I can’t….

by Chandress  - May 7, 2025

When I was a kid, we weren’t allowed to say we couldn’t do something. Ever.

It was painful but a lesson I still think about and use.

But that prohibition, changed the perspective.

Was the “I can’t”, really “I don’t know how?” Then, you can learn.

Was it “Not now” or “It’s too hard?” Ok, when? What parts can you start?

Was it, “I don’t want to.” or  “I can’t because I don’t have time” What that really means is I don’t want to badly enough. And that is ok. “No” is a complete sentence, but it shouldn’t be confused with can’t.

I bet you are arguing with me right now. And now there are things I am unlikely to do – grow taller for example. But most of the things I am tempted to say I can’t do, I could if I wanted to – I might need to learn things, I might need some patience, I might need to get help from others, but the reality is I can.

AND YOU CAN TOO.

What are you telling yourself you can’t do? What do you really mean? How can you change your story?
